The Fall Trends Worth Shopping Before Everyone Else
It’s still boiling outside, but fashion wise I’m already living two months ahead. That’s the thing about fall, if you wait until the temperature finally drops to think about it, everything good is already sold out. If anyone should know…I do. I’ve been trying to get my hands on a particular leather bomber jacket for months. Always sold out.
Here’s the truth though…you don’t need a stylist to tell you what to buy. I’m not one, and I don’t pretend to be. Sometimes stylists (not all, but some) make fashion feel like this exclusive club, like if you’re not in head-to-toe niche labels or dressing exactly like them, then you’re doing it wrong. That energy is intimidating, and honestly, it takes the fun out of getting dressed.
I don’t believe in that. I think everyone has style in them, it’s just about tapping into it. Trusting your own taste. Wearing the pieces that make you feel like yourself. That’s kind of where the magic is. So consider this not ‘rules from a stylist,’ but just your friendly girl-next-door who happens to know what’s coming for fall, and is happy to share it in a way that’s wearable, real and most importantly…relatable.
The Leather Bomber
If you buy one jacket this fall, let it be a leather bomber. It’s the new season staple and it works because it’s versatile. You can throw it over wide leg pants for that effortless look, or over a slip dress for something a bit more feminine.
Pieces worth looking at:
RÓHE Leather Bomber Jacket - minimal and timeless, with that oversized fit.
Acne Studios Cropped Bomber - shorter, boxier.
The Frankie Shop Senta Faux Leather Bomber Jacket - a little longer and more oversized.
The Frankie Shop Belmont Bomber – this is the one that’s always sold out…so even though I haven’t got my hands on it yet, I don’t gatekeep so you’re welcome. It’s oversized and slouchy in the best way, works with tailoring and denim.
This is one of those buys you’ll thank yourself for when the weather finally dips.
Leather Barrel-Leg Pants
Barrel-leg pants are already trending, but in leather they’re sharper and more commanding. These are the trousers that instantly change your body language.
Here are a few on my radar:
Nour Hammour Barrel-Leg Trousers - the ultimate version, they’ll last for years.
Frame Mid-Rise Barrel-Leg Leather Trousers - slightly more relaxed, not as overly barrel-leg as most.
Agolde Luna Pieced Leather Blend Barrel LegPants - another relaxed, wearable option.
Draped Tops
As much as I’ve loved the sharp tailoring trend, I’m loving that draping is on it’s way back…a little more softness. I love that draping flatters - it works with your body rather than against it, and it feels expensive even when it doesn’t have to be.
Source Unknown Tova Top - minimal but with that Grecian-goddess energy.
Rohe Draped Satin Top - luxe, fluid, and perfect for evenings.
Kallmeyer Naia Draped Top - everyday wearable, pairs perfectly with denim.
Reiss Matilda Draped Top - polished enough for work but not boring.
This is the trend that makes you look like you’ve thought about your outfit more than you actually did.
Lace Trim
I know what you’re picturing: the camis we all wore in the early 2000s. This isn’t that. The new lace trim is delicate, subtle, and styled to contrast - lace under leather, lace with oversized knits. It’s about mixing softness with structure.
Massimo Dutti Satin Camisole Top - ultra-feminine, perfect under chunky sweaters.
Twinset lace trimmed top - playful and light, easy to wear layered.
Zara lace trimmed top - elevated loungewear that doubles up for going out.
Fashion doesn’t have to feel like an exam you’ll fail if you don’t study the rulebook that some stylists/fashion experts make you feel exist. You don’t need to dress like a stylist to look good. You don’t need to be a pro. You just need to trust your eye, pick pieces that feel like you, and not be afraid of actually enjoying clothes.
Fall is coming whether you’re ready or not - but if you start with even one of these pieces, you’ll feel ahead of the curve without even trying.
Style Isn’t Just What You Wear, It’s How You Live
When we talk about style, most people go straight to fashion, outfits, shoes, what bag goes with what dress etc. Personally I feel real style runs deeper than that. It’s not just about what you wear. It’s what you naturally gravitate towards in every aspect of your life.
