So, I’ve decided to start something new in the newsletter…a little series I’m calling Get the Look. It’s going to be a mix of fashion and beauty moments that feel very me, but also super wearable and easy to recreate. I’ll be sharing everything from outfit formulas and go-to makeup looks, and maybe even the odd hair favourite too. Think of it like a mini moodboard straight to your inbox.
I used to be the Beauty Editor of a magazine back in the UK (feels like so long ago…and it kind of was), and what I loved most was pulling together those dreamy editorial pages - beautiful product layouts, chic beauty styling, and the kind of visuals that just feel good to look at...I can’t really explain it, but if you loved the 80’s and 90’s then you know what I mean. I’d like to think I’ve always had an eye for design and a bit of an artistic flair, so I figured…why not bring some of that energy into this space?
You’re basically going to get your very own curated, aesthetic magazine page from me…but in email form (or website form, if you’re checking this site manually…which I highly recommend!).
I’ve had a few of you DM or comment asking about my everyday style…especially when I’m running errands or just doing life. So I thought it would be fun to kick off the series with one of my go-to, no-fail (and most importantly, comfy) outfit.
Let me start by saying: I do not consider myself a style icon or fashion girlie. Honestly, I’m the complete opposite. But I do have my own sense of style that’s evolved over the years, and these days, I’ve really been leaning into simplicity, comfort, and that kind of ‘didn’t try too hard' vibe.
Here’s the exact combo I wear when I don’t have time to think about what to wear:
Grey sweatshirt - Slightly oversized, slouchy but structured…it’s also not long, it sits right at the waist. Zara Grey Sweatshirt
Mid-wash jeans - Straight leg or a little relaxed. They make the look feel more intentional than leggings but just as comfy. Zara Jeans
Adidas OG Sambas - A classic with a twist. They’re not loud and have a canvas finish which I actually find last longer too. Adidas OG Samba
Karen Wazen ‘Carolyn’ Sunglasses - Because 90% of the time I don’t want to do my brows or I’m too lazy to wear mascara. Karen Wazen Sunglasses
Jewelry - I always have my go-to pieces that I wear. A few rings…usually a bit chunky, small chunky hoops, and sometimes a simple chain. It ties everything together and makes it look like you really put thought into your outfit (even though it only took two minutes). COS hoops ASOS Chain
In my opinion, the key to making a basic outfit feel elevated is all in the details. The fit of the sweatshirt. The cut of the jeans. The clean sneakers. The minimal jewelry. It’s that mix of casual and intentional that makes it work for me.
This look is a bit of a reflection of where I’m at in life too…comfortable in who I am, but still making space to evolve and refine things. That applies to fashion, beauty, work, mindset…all of it.
What do we think of the layout so far? I want this to feel elevated but still personal…like you’re having a flip through my brain!
I’m excited to keep sharing more of these little style moments with you. Whether it’s what I’m wearing, my current beauty faves, or the random Amazon find I didn’t know I needed!
Let me know if there’s a specific look or vibe you want me to break down next. I’ve got loads more coming!
Luxury Beauty vs Dupe Culture...What’s Actually Worth It?
I remember when buying luxury beauty had so much excitement about it - the kind of excitement I now only feel if I’m buying luxury clothing, bags or shoes. Remember the sleek packaging? The soft click of a high-end lipstick? It was all part of the experience. I admit that my lack of excitement also comes down to age - I’m older, wiser, and blessed to be in a better financial position, meaning I moved on to luxury attire which kind of feels like
Nice keep it coming
