Nina, my makeup Guru, unfortunately this world is full of all kinds of people and some are very insecure & have very low self esteem! Some may even be self-absorbed narcissists who want to convince themselves & everyone else that they are the sole & best judges of what is or isn’t good. When you’re dealing with such a diverse audience, many who know so little that they can’t recognize a professional like you, promise me for your own sanity to just ignore them. You are an outstanding makeup artist as well as a teacher! A psychiatrist you are not! And for some of them, even a psychiatrist can do nothing. Ignore them & don’t acknowledge them! Why would I listen to anything they would have to say? Don’t worry about it. People who follow you want to learn from you & you have the credibility regarding your specialty that we don’t. On the other hand, the Internet is like the Wild Wild West, so it is possible that some competitor might be trolling you and would try to discredit you. Again, this is your channel, we are here for you & not about to listen to someone else. In the Breakfast Club we sometimes exchange ideas, ask for opinions, and it would be nice &?we would welcome your input if one of us is facing a challenge, like someone recently asked about problems she’s experiencing with correctors for dark circles. You can always tell by our chats when we’re exchanging ideas in an effort to learn with each other when applying what we have learned from you. I know in my heart that I speak for all of us that are your serious students that we don’t pay attention to the noise! It hurts us to learn that some nasties out there are trying to challenge you & even put you down. I personally haven’t encountered this, but don’t worry, if someone made any untoward remarks about you or challenged something you said, I might stand up for you & respond to them, or I might decide that they’re crazy enough that I would chose to ignore them! If no one bites, maybe they would just decide to go away. Your audience is strong & loyal to you, because you have earned our respect!❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for your lovely message Gail! I 100% don’t let these things get to me but it’s also nice to vent a little sometimes to blow off some steam! I love the little community we’ve created here and I love how everyone is getting to know one another and helping each other out with issues!

This is a very good rant 😊!! It's so easy to get caught up in your "truth" that you think it should be everyone's truth as well.

This is why I only follow one person per topic. I follow Dr Dray for dermatology and Nina for make up. I like following professionals not influencers

Oh God Nina! I swear I have been experiencing this so much lately. Not necessarily about beauty, but any topic at all. People will actually correct my opinion on something instead of disagreeing (which would be fine). And they don't even do it online-they do it right to my face. It's exhausting.

Exactly my point! I’ve also been experiencing it a lot with general topics…not just beauty - and face to face. I totally get how exhausting it can be!

Oh couldn’t agree more! It’s almost like disapproving of your choices makes people feel better about themselves. Over it! I listen to these opinions with my ears turned to mute lol

Yes, great rant! I agree too! Sometimes I noticed that on product reviews on YouTube they really bash the product of the company. Knowing for example if you have let’s say a new foundation then for you it works great! But on YouTube they say it’s a waste of money the coverage is awful and ect. Sometimes you have to go over the critical stuff about the product and try for yourself to see if it works well for you. I did that so many times it’s crazy. But I know my skin and what works well for me now.

Dear Nina,

Yeah I have encountered the same issue, people would always ready to mansplaining you or even ‘correct’ your own experience in order to show you that they have this years of experience so they have the authority to correct you. To me, if you have the experience that is different than mine, then good for you. It means you tried your way and it isn’t working the way it should, but that doesn’t mean you are right. So, let me try my way. So, your rant is ok, I just hope they learned.
