This year, I’m challenging myself in a way I’ve never done before: reading one book a month in 2025. Now, I know for some of you that might sound like no big deal, but I rarely find time to finish five books in a year so for me, it is a big deal. I’m my preference is usually self-help and business books, but this time, I’m switching it up and diving into different genres to expand my knowledge and perspective. I’ve decided that if I really want to do things, then I’ll have to make the time.
I’ve always loved reading, but I’ve realized my bookshelf looks like a “success mindset starter pack.” Don’t get me wrong—I love those books, because I find they really help with my approach to business and keep me inspired, but I want to explore new ideas, stories, and even some pure escapism. Fiction, memoirs, thrillers, romance novels, you name it—I’m ready to broaden my horizons.
This challenge isn’t just about reading more; it’s about being intentional with my time and nurturing my creativity. I also feel like reading widely can bring fresh inspiration to my work, whether it’s makeup artistry, content creation, or just connecting with people.
The Plan
Here’s how I’m approaching it:
1. One Book a Month
2. Mixing It Up: My lineup will include a little bit of everything - fiction, memoirs, thrillers, and yes, still a sprinkle of self-help. I may need some recommendations, so please share!
3. Sharing the Journey: I want this to be a shared experience. Maybe you’ll join me?
Let’s Read Together!
I’d love for this to turn into a little book club! Each month, I’ll share what I’m reading on Instagram or Threads (or both), and we can discuss it together. Imagine chatting about the plot twists of a thriller or laughing about the quirks of a rom-com - all while connecting with like-minded people.
If you’re in, let’s do this together! You don’t have to read the same book as me (but you totally can if you want). We could check in at the end of each month to share thoughts, favorite quotes, or how the book inspired us. I’ll definitely be posting a newsletter about each book, every month.
Kicking It Off….
I’m starting with a self-help/business book (shock), but to be fair it’s been staring at me from my shelf, practically begging to be opened. The book I’m reading is ‘Diary Of A CEO’ by Steven Bartlett. I’m around a quarter of the way through and it is GREAT! So easy to read and I’m learning so much.
This challenge is all about stepping into the unknown and seeing where these stories and lessons take me. I’m ready to turn the page…literally.
If you’ve been wanting to read more or mix up your usual book choices, why not join me? Drop your book recommendations in the comments or tag me on Threads - I’m always open to suggestions!
I'm in! Reading more was actually one of my new year's resolutions. I decided to start with ones that are real page turners. One and 1/2 books down so far. Right now I'm reading a psychological thriller called Close your Eyes by Teresa Driscoll, a journalist from Devon, UK.
I have ADHD so it’s almost impossible to be able to sit with no stimulation for a period of time and concentrate on what I’m trying to read. However I’d like to try this and o already know which book I will start with as I received it last month. It’s called “Let Them” by Mel Robbins and I’m hoping to at least start it before the end of January! Haven’t been able one the time or motivation to start yet. It is highly rated and recommend by all. Of you have or plan on reading this too let me know what you think. Thanks for the inspiration.
