Foundations and tints that genuinely look like skin are actually harder to find than it should be. So many foundations say they look natural, but then you apply them and it ends up kind of sitting on top and looking more obvious than you’d like. I’m adding skin tints in this because when skin tints first came out I’d say they were really natural and genuinely did look like skin. However, as the beauty world has evolved, skin tints have more coverage (which is great if you want it) and could even very easily be classed as a foundation. It’s hard to see the difference anymore.
For me, a skin like foundation and skin tint doesn’t mean no coverage at all. There are so many different things you could want out of a foundation and skin tint, but ultimately I want them to give good coverage without erasing the face completely…basically you can still see my skin, it’s just better. The best ones are the formulas that make people think your skin looks good, not that your foundation looks good.
Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This is one of the foundations I always think of when someone wants skin that looks polished but still natural. It has coverage, but it doesn’t feel heavy, and the finish is that really flattering natural glow that makes the skin look smoother without looking greasy.
I like this because it doesn’t make the face look flat. It gives that expensive looking skin finish where everything looks more even, but you can still see life in the skin. I’d use this for filming, dinners, events or any day where I want my base to look a bit more elevated without going into full coverage.
The best way to use it is to start with a thin layer and build only where you need it. This is one of those foundations that looks better when you don’t overload it.
L’Oréal True Match Foundation
This is such a good drugstore foundation because it gives that easy everyday skin finish without making makeup look heavy. It blends like a dream, it doesn’t feel thick, and it gives enough coverage for normal life without making your face look overly perfected.
