If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by skincare routines online, you’re not alone. Somewhere along the way, a “simple routine” turned into 12 steps, multiple acids, layers of serums, and more products than you can actually fit in your bathroom cabinet…trust me, it happened to me too. The truth is, most of it isn’t necessary. Good skin doesn’t come from how many products you use…it comes from using the right ones consistently. Around 6 months ago I simplified my skincare routine. So much so, that I only use one active. It wasn’t just the simplified routine that’s helped me…I simplified the products too. I want to break down what actually matters, and what you can confidently skip.

Cleansing (Keep It Simple)
Cleansing is essential, but it doesn’t need to be complicated. A gentle cleanser that removes makeup, SPF, and dirt without stripping your skin is all you need. If you wear heavier makeup or SPF, a double cleanse with a balm or oil first is useful, but you don’t need four different cleansers for one face. Harsh foaming cleansers that leave your skin squeaky-clean are not necessarily the best ones. It’s clever..because it makes you ‘feel’ like your skin is finally clean. But I’d suggest skipping them. They can damage your barrier and cause more problems than they solve. I use a Korean brand; COSRX gentle cleanser.
