I come across so many people who tell me they avoid powder because of how much older and drier it makes their skin look. I think so many people are convinced its the thing making their makeup look dry, tired, and basically….older. But here’s the truth: it’s not the powder itself, it’s which one you’re using and how you’re using it.

After 20+ years as a makeup artist and now firmly in my 40s, I can confidently say these are the powders that actually work for skin that’s not 21 anymore. They don’t settle, they don’t dry you out, and they don’t make your undereyes look like sandpaper!

The key with powder over 40 is less about mattifying and more about refining. Obviously you want something that holds your makeup in place…but more importantly, something that doesn’t emphasize what you’re trying to soften.
