Let’s talk about a common makeup misconception: the belief that you can copy a YouTube tutorial exactly, use the same foundation, the same concealer, follow every step, and still, somehow, your makeup doesn’t look like the flawless airbrushed look you were expecting. And then you’re probably thinking…what did I do wrong?
Well, it could be down to your tools. Because as much as we focus on products and technique, your brushes, sponges, and puffs (yes, even the puffs) play just as big a role in how your makeup turns out. There’s an analogy I’ve used in my videos numerous times - if a professional artist used a cheap, scratchy brush, would their masterpiece still look the same? No. And the same goes for your makeup.
It’s technique, products, and tools in perfect harmony that make a look go from “meh” to “wow.” You can have the best technique, but….a stiff and patchy brush = streaky foundation. You can have the most expensive foundation, but if your sponge is rock hard you’ll end up with patchy, uneven blending. The perfect mix is good products, good tools, and the right application method.
