When it comes to brows, "natural" is the ultimate goal..full, soft, and perfectly shaped without looking overly done. Achieving that effortless look often comes down to using the right textures and knowing how to layer them. Here are three perfect textures for natural brows: a fine brow pencil, a softly tinted brow gel, and a brow powder. I’ve also listed my ultimate favorites for each of these textures!
1. Fine Brow Pencil: Precision and Realism
A fine brow pencil is perfect for creating realistic, hair-like strokes. Look for a pencil with a fine tip for precision and a buildable, creamy formula that blends well.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz - This cult-favorite pencil is famous for a reason. The ultra-fine tip mimics natural brow hairs perfectly, and the spoolie on the other end helps blend the strokes seamlessly. Brow Wiz is great for filling in sparse areas or extending the tail of your brows while keeping things looking soft and natural. There are far more very fine pencils around, however the pigment is so good that it can darken the brow a bit too much. What I love about the ABH brow wiz, is that the transfer isn’t overly strong, which makes it perfect for natural brows.
Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil - This one’s another must-have for a natural look. Its fine tip gives you complete control, and the color payoff is subtle yet buildable, so you can go from soft to bold while still looking realistic. Plus, it’s available in a wide range of shades, making it easy to find the perfect match for your brows.
2. Softly Tinted Brow Gel: Volume and Hold
A tinted brow gel is ideal for adding a hint of color and volume to your brows. It helps to keep them in place without creating a harsh or overly defined look. Opt for one that enhances your natural brow shape with a soft tint.
Glossier Boy Brow - Boy Brow has earned its reputation as a go-to for that “no-makeup makeup” brow look. The formula is creamy, non-crunchy, and lightly pigmented, so it holds your brows in place while making them appear naturally fuller. This product is perfect for those who already have a good brow shape and just want a bit of extra polish and volume. If you want less pigment then I would opt for the clear gel.
Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Gel - Benefit’s Gimme Brow is an MVP for adding instant fullness. The fiber-enriched gel clings to individual brow hairs, creating a naturally bushy look without the fuss. The tiny tapered brush makes it easy to build volume and color exactly where you need it, whether it’s just a touch or a full, feathery effect.
3. Brow Powder: Softness and Blendability
For those who want a softer fill-in, brow powders are a great option. They’re easy to blend, forgiving, and give a fuller look that’s still soft and natural. Use an angled brush to apply, and make sure to blend well.
Dior Backstage Brow Palette - The Dior Backstage Brow Palette is a versatile option for creating natural-looking brows. It includes two powder shades that allow for custom blending and a wax to help set and shape brows. The powders are soft and blendable, giving a subtle, buildable finish that’s perfect for filling in sparse areas without looking harsh and is my personal favorite for my clients. This palette is great for achieving a soft, dimensional brow look that enhances your natural shape and fullness.
I have a lot of practice to do perfecting hair strokes that aren’t fake looking. I use all mentioned products which are fantastic
