I had my first Sculptra session recently, and I feel like it’s something a lot more of us should be talking about…because it might just be the quiet little tweak that makes all the difference without the “she’s had something done” look.

Before we get into my experience, let’s talk basics…

Sculptra is not filler. It’s a biostimulator, which basically means it gives your own body a nudge to produce more collagen. So instead of adding volume with a gel substance like filler does, Sculptra works over time to help your skin rebuild what it’s slowly been losing…elasticity, structure, and plumpness. The results are not instant, so you need patience for this one. If you want immediate results, this isn’t for you.

By now we’ve all seen those viral MRA images of someones face with old filler floating about…yeh, it freaked me out too. Well, Sculptra is a good option if you don’t want unwanted stuff in your face that just sits there.

This was a slightly emotional one. It was also my last appointment with my dermatologist of 8 years. She’s been treating my skin for so long and honestly…she feels like family at this point. She’s leaving my clinic to travel (yes, she’s left a little hole in my heart) but she’s left me in amazing hands, and she’s promised she’s just a phone call away. I completely trust her judgment, so when she suggested Sculptra…especially knowing I don’t want filler, I didn’t even hesitate.
