My Fall Style Edit
A Fall wardrobe edit in my signature style: simple, versatile, and effortless
Fall style doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. I like to keep what worked from last year and add a few new pieces each season to make my wardrobe feel current. This year, I’m looking at practical pieces that don’t bankrupt you and that layer well, work for everyday life, and won’t go out of style in one season.
I’ll go through the types of pieces I wear most but also add a few pieces I think will work and am personally looking to buy. Don’t forget to click on the links to see what I either have or what’s my next buy.
The Basics
They need to be versatile and work under jackets, on their own, and with everything else in my wardrobe.
Fine Knit Sweater: A neutral, lightweight knit you can wear alone on warmer fall days or layer under blazers, jackets and coats.
Lace Top: Perfect for layering under knits when you want more texture or under a blazer for evenings.
Turtleneck: I have one in black and cream for a clean, minimal base that works with jeans or tailored trousers.
Cotton Shirt: Relaxed enough to wear open over a tank top but sharp enough to tuck into trousers.
Long Sleeve Bodysuit: Gives you a smooth base for layering under heavier knits and jackets.
Polo top: I’ve got a thing for polo tops right now. Not the boxy type, but the relaxed fit, high quality type.
Styling tip: Stick to a neutral color palette here so everything layers easily without feeling overdone.
The Accessories
Accessories are what change the mood of an outfit. They make the same basics feel new every time you wear different accessories.
Silk Scarf: Tie it around your waist, through belt loops, or over your shoulders. It instantly updates last year’s pieces.
Structured Belt: A classic leather belt in black or brown finishes off trousers and jeans and works over coats to add shape. I honestly think you only really need a black or brown. I don’t like to go crazy with belt shopping.
Statement Earrings: I like simple, sculptural designs. COS is my go-to because the quality is good and they work with everything.
Brooch: Pin it to coats, blazers, or even a chunky knit for a subtle detail that feels special.
Styling tip: Accessories are where you can add trend pieces without spending too much because they instantly elevate basics.
