Meeting Dior's Peter Philips + The New Dior Backstage Makeup Launch
The OG Dior blush has had a makeover
April was one of those rare full-circle moments for me. I was invited to a one-on-one with Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup. It was at the stunning Bulgari Hotel in Dubai…already a dream setting, but nothing compared to the conversation that followed. I genuinely expected it to be a quick hello, maybe a few words about the new launch. Instead, we ended up chatting for two hours. About makeup, artistry, inspiration, the past, the future…and everything in between.
Peter was warm, kind, and honestly a bit of a kindred spirit. There’s something so grounding about speaking to someone who experienced beauty from the same lens I fell in love with. The pre-social media era. When we carried heavy leather portfolios, not iPads. When moodboards were made, not pinned. When inspiration came from the world around us…art, emotion, life itself…not from replicating what was already done.
It reminded me of what makeup used to feel like. What it still can feel like when you remove the noise. When you’re not creating for a viral post, but for a mood. An emotion. A face in front of you, not a filter.
Naturally, we spoke in depth about Dior’s new launch…the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Collection featuring blush sticks, powder blushers, and lip butters. And after actually playing with the range, I can say….this is one of those rare drops that feels like makeup for makeup lovers. No gimmicks. Just solid, beautiful products that do exactly what you want them to.
When I was about to leave, I was gifted with the entire collection! I wasn’t allowed to mention anthing on social media until now…so you can imagine how much fun I’ve had with these products!
Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Sticks
These are so creamy, it almost feels like skincare when you glide them on. They blend like a dream with your fingers or a brush. What I love most is how easy they are to layer, you can go sheer for a natural tint or build them up for more impact. The finish is glowy but never greasy. And the colors…every shade is wearable. The sleek, slim packaging with the embossed Dior logo gives it that elevated touch, but it’s also just really practical.
Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Powder Blushers
You probably already know the OG Rosy Glow blush…the one that went viral and became a cult classic. This is that, but better. The new square compact comes with a mirror (finally!), and the formula is somehow softer, more buildable, and more refined. Whether you like a whisper of blush or a bold pop, this compact can do both. My fave shade? Pink Pop. It gives you that fresh-off-a-walk kind of flush.
Dior Backstage Lip Butters
These are like grown up lip glosses, but better. The formula has a buttery, balm-meets-gloss texture that glides on without a hint of stickiness. Some shades have the tiniest shimmer, which gives a beautiful dimension on the lips without making it look frosty. I didn’t think I’d love the shimmer ones, but they’re honestly stunning. The packaging has a Dior logo charm hanging on the corner…very nostalgic, very luxe, very 2000s in the best way.
Artistry still matters. Technique still matters.
A good product can change your whole mood.
Sitting with a legend like Peter Philips reminded me that beauty is not just what we see on screens. It’s energy, intention, creativity.
This launch is a reflection of that.
Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Stick in Pink or Cherry if you want to brighten dull skin!
Dior Backstage Powder Blusher in Pink Lilac or Candy if you want a pop of color!
Dior Backstage Lip Butter in Glazed Lavender is chefs kiss!
Honestly, there are very few launches that make me pause and feel something. This one did. If you’re looking for a reason to fall back in love with beauty, this might just be it.
Niña, I’m so happy for you. Bit’s about time you get the attention recognition & respect you deserve for being a top professional in the makeup industry. You were treated as the industry leader you are & not just another makeup artist. Bravo! I’ve been watching hours of makeup videos & shorts online & you still are the best, in my opinion. Dior recognized that in you! All your hard work and knowledge is starting to payoff! Wow! You must have had a lot of fun playing with so many products. I can’t wait to try some too. Dior has always been a quality & prestigious line. Congratulations, again! Very well done!👏👏👏🌹❤️
Congrats. These palettes look amazing
