Something shifts when you hit your 40s…not just in life, but in how makeup behaves on your skin. The same products that used to glide on perfectly in your 20’s, start clinging to texture, creasing under the eyes, or settling into lines that you didn’t even know you had. It’s not that your skin has changed overnight. It’s that your makeup routine probably hasn’t evolved with it with the gradual change of your skin.
The truth is, once you’re in your 40s, your skin has different needs. It’s drier, thinner, and more prone to showing movement…which I guess isn’t a bad thing. It just means your makeup needs to work with your skin, not fight against it. When you shift your approach, your makeup stops looking heavy or tired, and starts looking like what it should…you, just more polished.
I though it would be a good idea to go through different formulas and discuss how it works if you’re in your 40’s like me.
Base: Hydrate, don’t hide
The biggest mistake I see women make is trying to cover everything. Heavy, matte foundation used to mean flawless, but now it just means flat. Skin looks more youthful when it reflects light, so swap out full-coverage, thick foundations for lighter, hydrating bases.
