Makeup isn’t one size fits all and theres a reason why you’ve probably heard this before. What looks good on one person might look completely different on another person - it may end up completely washing out their skin. Skin tone plays a huge role in how colors show up.
Finding the right colors that match your skin isn’t as easy as just following rules - we all have different skin tones…too many to realistically list if you want to be specific. But understanding the basics will really help you to understand what enhances your natural beauty.
Like I mentioned, there are too many different skin tones to list - but you should still know what category you fall into. Do you fall into fair, medium, olive or deep? Within each of these are countless other tones, but you should at least have an understanding of which one of these your skin tone falls into.
Within each of these categories you’ll then find undertones. Your undertone is the tone or hue beneath the surface of the skin. My undertone is neutral olive. This means I generally go for neutral olive tone foundations. There are a few ways to figure out what your undertone is and I’ll dive into that on another newsletter soon, but not knowing your undertone doesn’t mean you can’t figure out which colors suit you.
Fair skin can look pretty drained if the wrong shades are used - for example the wronge foundation shade can make you look like a ghost or wrong shade of pink blush can end up looking neon. If you have fair skin, lean towards soft pinks, peaches, and neutral tones that add warmth without overpowering your look.
Foundation - Neutral or slightly warm tones stop you from looking too washed out. Avoid anything too cool unless you want to look extra icy.
