I’m Not Anti-Social. I Just Like My Own Company.

Ok, let’s talk….I think there’s this weird assumption that if you like being alone, you must be anti-social, lonely, difficult, or awkward. I’ve never really understood it because some people are genuinely very comfortable in their own company. I’m one of those people. I love my own company.

I don’t dislike people. I’m not sitting at home bitter because I haven’t got a diary full of lunches, dinners, birthdays, brunches and group chats. I just don’t need constant plans to feel like my life is full. I actually really enjoy being at home, doing my own thing, being with my family, going for walks with Nico, working on things I care about, watching something on my own or with hubby, making food, or just having a day where I don’t have to talk for the sake of talking. Also, I hate gossip. I couldn’t think of anything worse than meeting someone for coffee just to bitch about things. I’ve things to do. Alone.

Take it from me….there’s a big difference between being lonely and being alone. I think people confuse the two all the time. Being lonely feels like something is missing. Being alone, is when you actually enjoy your own company, it can feel like peace, space, almost like having your brain back after being around too much noise.
