Hair fall. Two words that most women dread, and we rarely talk about it openly. It’s one of those things we notice in private - hair collecting in the shower drain, clumps on the bathroom floor, or in my case, my husband casually pointing out, "There’s a lot of your hair everywhere." Thanks, babe. Love that for me.

For the past couple of years, I’ve noticed more hair fall than usual. It’s not like I was balding, but there was definitely a shift. So, in true ‘ignore it and hope it goes away’ fashion, I did what most of us do - I turned to Dr.google and found at-home solutions. I started oiling my hair religiously (which is an ancient tradition in my culture so I knew what I was doing), cut down my washes to once a week, and barely used any heat styling. But at some point, I knew I needed to see a professional. I had questions, and it was time to get answers.

I decided to go to Kaya Skin clinic which is where I go for everything skin related. I saw an expert in the hair field who had a head of hair that weirdly made me feel at ease. After examining my scalp, he confirmed what I suspected but didn’t want to hear: I was at level 2 of hair thinning. I should have asked how many levels there were…but I think that was my insecurity kicking in, telling me ‘you really don’t want to know’. Apparently, women experience hair thinning mainly at the top front and sides of the head…which is exactly where my issue was. Great. Love that for me even more.
