Let me make this very clear…you cannot physically shrink your pores with makeup. Pore size is mainly genetic. But what you can do is make them look softer, smoother, a little blurred and far less noticeable.

As a makeup artist, pore visibility is usually about three things…texture, oil, and product choice. When makeup looks heavy or separates, pores all of a sudden look magnified. When everything is balanced properly, they almost disappear.

I’ve put together some pointers so that you can understand how to minimize the appearance of them. It may not mean you need to do all of the below, but over time you should figure out what makes the best difference for your individual skin type.

1. Skincare

If skin is overly dry, foundation clings to texture. If it’s too oily, foundation slides and collects inside pores. So ultimately you want balance.
