How to Make Your Makeup Look Softer (Without Buying Anything New)
If your makeup has started to feel a bit harsh, heavy, or just not as flattering as it used to, this is usually not a product problem. It’s almost always a technique problem. Softer makeup isn’t about doing less…it’s about doing things differently.
This is exactly how I approach makeup now, especially in my 40s, and it’s made a biggest difference.
Start With Less Product Than You Think You Need
This sounds obvious, but it’s the biggest mistake most people make. We tend to apply makeup the way we always have, even though our skin has changed. Start with half the amount you normally use…foundation, concealer, blush, all of it. You can always add more, but once it’s heavy, it’s hard to undo.
Apply foundation from the center of the face outward instead of all over. Most people don’t need coverage everywhere. This alone instantly softens the look.
