This year, I’ve decided to make a vision board. I’ve never made one before so I had to do a little research into it which I’ll share shortly. I’m not the person who relies on trends or buzz words - I believe theres a lot of hard work, smart work ethic that goes into reaching your goals, however, after researching into how a vision board works, I felt it would be a great way to motivate me. That’s the key word here…motivation. And this is exactly why I decided to create one this year. I loved the idea that it gives you motivation and a bit of a nudge every time you see it. I like how it reminds you of your goals and almost pushes you to work a little harder to achieve your goal.
Turns out a vision board is more than just a collage of pretty pictures. It’s a powerful tool to manifest your goals and dreams. Whether you want to achieve personal growth, build your dream career, or find more balance in life, a vision board can help clarify your intentions and keep you motivated.
So here is my easy to understand guide on how to create your own…
Step 1: Reflect on Your Goals and Dreams
Before grabbing the scissors and glue, take some time to reflect. Ask yourself:
- What do I want to achieve in the next year?
- What kind of person do I want to become?
- What areas of my life need the most attention (e.g., career, relationships, health, self-care)?
Write these down. This clarity will help guide the visuals and words you include on your board.
Step 2: Gather Your Supplies
You don’t need anything fancy, but here’s what you will need:
- A board: poster board.
- Magazines, printed photos, or Pinterest images that you can print yourself.
- Scissors, glue, or push pins.
- Markers, stickers, or other decorative elements (if you want to get creative).
Step 3: Find Visuals That Resonate
Look for images, words, or quotes that represent your goals.
- Career Goals: Find images of people in your dream job, quotes about success, or words like “boss” or “entrepreneur.”
- Health & Wellness: Pictures of healthy meals, people working out, or phrases like “strong body, strong mind.”
- Personal Growth: Words like “confidence,” “balance,” or “joy,” and images of calm spaces or activities you love.
- Big Dreams: Photos of places you want to travel to, dream homes, or anything that sparks some excitement.
Step 4: Start Your Vision Board
Now comes the fun part—putting it all together!
- Arrange your images and words on the board in a way that feels natural to you.
- Group similar goals together (e.g., health on one side, career on another) or create a mix to inspire a holistic vision.
- Add any personal touches, like doodles, stickers, or handwritten affirmations.
Step 5: Place It Somewhere Visible
Your vision board should be somewhere you’ll see it often—like your bedroom, office, or even as a digital wallpaper. The more you see it, the more it will reinforce your goals.
Step 6: Take Inspired Action
A vision board isn’t magic; it’s a tool. The real magic happens when you pair visualization with action. Break down your goals into smaller steps and work toward them daily.
