Dressing for F/W when the sun is always out
When all four seasons consist of sunshine, enjoying Fall/Winter fashion can be difficult to say the least.
I couldn’t find this topic covered anywhere, so here’s my little contribution in case, just like me, you live in the desert.
When it comes to this time of year, I more or less live my dream Fall wardrobe through the well-curated fashion influencer posts I see on my Instagram explore page. Needless to say, living in Dubai means the weather is hot all the time. If you live anywhere other than the Middle East, then the best way for me to explain this to you is that our winter is most likely to be like your summer. Currently, it’s October on a Monday evening, and it’s 33°. That should give you an even clearer understanding of Fall in Dubai.
If I walked out here in Dubai in my ideal fall outfit, I would look ridiculous. Even if I wore a lightweight trenchcoat, I’d still look like I’ve lost my mind, so coats and boots are completely out of the question.
So how do I dress for Fall in the United Arab Emirates? In a country I call home. Well, it all comes down to my color palette and a slight adjustment in the types of pieces I pick from my wardrobe. The easiest way to figure this out is by working backwards. I eliminated pieces of clothing and shoes that I knew were going to look ridiculous in the type of weather that we have here. Boots, jumpers, and coats are a no-go.
I tend to stick to a strict fall color palette, embracing nudes and earthy tones, thus ensuring at least the most visual part of dressing is adhering to this season's colors.
Even though the sky is always blue and nearly always requires sunglasses, my color palette is what I can fall back on to at least feel like it’s Fall! It’s too hot here for coats; however, I’ve invested in lightweight cardigans to add to the feel of the season.
So, wherever you are in the world, I hope you are embracing the season in the best way you know how.
Well we have the true all seasons here in Ohio. Fall being my all time favorite season, it’s fun to wear a burst of burnt orange and a colorful shirt such as the one you’re wearing, beautiful 💄
So my fur coat would have to go?? lol. Living near Pittsburgh PA we get very few sunny days so I envy all that sunshine. No winter slop, hats, gloves???? Sigh. Please send some sun in February ❤️
