Let’s be honest…we’ve all been there. You could be the Duracell bunny of productivity and you could still have an off day or even a week. Unfortunately, it can be pretty easy to fall into this dark hole of laziness, and even harder to climb out of it.
Honestly, I’ve just had a whole week of being in my lazy girl era, and thankfully I’ve made it back out the other side. While I was in the crux of it all, I decided that I was going to write about how it felt while I was, well…just being lazy.
What I realized was, that there are so many factors that can force you into this state. Traveling, late nights, and unhealthy habits can make you feel extremely lazy and lethargic.
So here are my top tips to get you out of the lazy girl era and into your best life era!
Early nights = early mornings Start by getting into bed earlier than you’re used to. Even if you’re in bed at 9pm and read for 30 minutes, it’s easier to fall asleep and you’ll find that you’ll probably fall asleep much quicker. It takes consistency for this to make a difference and you’ll start feeling like you have more energy during the day.
Think before you eat It’s easy to mindlessly eat and not think about what you’re eating. I’m not saying you should be on a specific diet, what I am saying is you should think about what you shouldn’t eat. When I eliminated fizzy drinks and decreased processed foods from my diet, it made a huge difference in how I feel day to day. I felt less lethargic and didn’t feel the sense of fatigue that I had felt for so long.
Water yourself I keep a liter camelbak bottle with me at all times. I carry it around with me everywhere at home. It’s the only thing that’s made me drink enough water daily. I drink a minimum of 2.5 liters a day and it’s been a game-changer for my mental clarity.
Evening ‘me time’ This doesn’t have to mean totally disconnecting. As much as I agree that switching off all blue light is good for you in the evenings, I’ve also learned it’s not as easy as it sounds. Our whole world is dominated by social media and our phones. Try to keep at least 30 minutes every evening to yourself for whatever it is you love. Whether it be reading, doing your self-care or plucking your eyebrows, spend it doing things that help you unwind.
Take a bit of time to implement these changes gradually because once you do them all together, it’s a game-changer to get you out of that lazy girl era!
